Biometric Verification and Biometric Identification of a Person by Methods of Statistical Analysis of Digitized Iris Images

ABSTRACT: This paper concerns the practical aspects of personal identification based on a statistical analysis of their digitized iris images. Presuming the existence of a database of their numeral representation it is possible to approach the identification process in two ways. If it is a priori known that the tested iris has been already scanned and its characteristics are included in the database, it concerns the biometric verification. On the other hand, if it is not known that the characteristics of the tested iris are included in the database, it concerns the biometric identification.
